SPAN provides a national voice for space-related research in the UK, representing the academic community across Earth Observation, Space Engineering and Space Science.

As the national voice for the UK’s space academic community, SPAN highlights the vital role of academia in supporting the UK’s ambitions in space through research excellence, innovation and strategic collaboration.

The network is actively seeking to grow and expand, providing a single voice for the UK academic community engaged in research of or from space.

SPAN operates through a Board and Working Group structure. The Board meets three times a year, with representatives from the UK Space Agency, Research Councils and UKSpace in attendance. It also works proactively to coordinate a balanced response to current priorities, including government and parliamentary consultations and wider issues affecting the space research community.
